Suweyda Ahmed
Hi, my name is Suweyda, and I tutor GCSE/A-level English literature to students of all abilities. I enjoy helping students not only build their knowledge but confidence in learning. I always aim to make each tutoring session engaging, supportive, and tailored to the student. My teaching style is patient and focused, I break topics into clear, digestible steps, and try to use different approaches until the student is steadily progressing. My goal in tutoring is to help students feel more prepared and independent in education, not just ready for the next test.
What I enjoy most about teaching English literature is seeing how students can explore new voices, cultures, and ideas through their writing. I help them to see beyond the surface of a quote or character and deeply analyse the emotions and techniques that the writer uses. Encouraging creativity and new interpretations, whether in essays or discussions, is the most important part of teaching English for me so that a student can find their own creative voice.
I connect with students by being patient and approachable, by taking the time to help them, and by listening to their concerns. I believe that by first building trust, I can show students that real learning happens in a comfortable environment. I’m adaptable in my teaching methods and find new ways to help students find the right way to learn for them individually. I often ask questions and make sure students can know why and not just how to answer a question and find a solution.
I have experience working with SEN students through my role as a mentor for year 9 students. This is where I led reading discussions and worked one-to-one with SEN students, creating a safe environment for them to learn in. I also volunteered as a Zero Gravity mentor for sixth form students, helping them to prepare for university applications. These experiences have taught me the importance of listening and adapting, as every student is not the same and has diverse needs.
