FAQs

  • We offer tuition in maths, English, and science (including biology, chemistry, and physics). Learn more.

  • We offer tuition for students from the ages of 5 (KS1) to 18 (A-level or equivalent).

  • We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson without charge. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson will be charged in full. If a tutor cancels, we will notify you as early as possible and aim to either reschedule the lesson at a convenient time or provide a substitute tutor if this is appropriate and agreed upon. If neither is possible, then you will receive a full refund for the lesson.

  • Our hourly rates can be found under the ‘Tuition Services’ tab. The cost per lesson depends on the year group your child is in.

  • We measure progress through a blend of formal and informal assessments. Each student begins with a diagnostic assessment to establish a baseline. This will help us understand their strengths, challenges, and learning style. Tutors may occasionally use quizzes, exam-style questions, or past papers at their discretion to track progress. After each lesson, parents will have access to a feedback report, available via TutorCruncher, which will detail how your child performed in their lesson.

  • Online tuition takes place via Google Meet. Your tutor will create a meeting link and send this to you at least 24 hours before your lesson. Please ensure your camera is working and your child has a quiet space to attend the lesson. Aim to join the lesson 5 minutes before it’s scheduled to begin so your child can get settled and make sure they have all the equipment they need for a productive session.

  • Yes, our tutors are experienced in preparing students for SATs, 11+, end-of-year exams, GCSEs, A-levels, and BTECs. We focus on developing exam technique and guiding students through past papers, revision strategies, and time management skills to help them feel fully prepared on exam day.

  • All of our tutors have A-levels (or equivalent) in the subjects they tutor in, achieved at least an A grade or have at least five years of teaching/tutoring experience, and are undergraduates or graduates from top universities. All of our tutors have also undergone ID checks and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

  • We take great care in matching students with the right tutor. During the interview process, we learn about each tutor’s teaching style, personality, hobbies, and interests, which informs the type of students we match them with. For example, if your child is more reserved, we might pair them with a warm, encouraging tutor who has experience building rapport with quieter children.

  • In-person lessons usually happen at the tutee’s home if this is convenient or at a local library that’s easy for the tutee to get to.

  • This depends on your child’s needs and goals. Some students benefit from starting as early as age 5 to build a strong foundation in core skills, such as numeracy and phonics, while others begin later for support with specific exams they’re working towards. If you’re unsure whether tuition is the right step for your child, feedback from your child’s teacher can be a helpful indicator. We offer a free consultation to help assess the best starting point for your child.
