About Us

Founded in 2025 by London-based tutor Zayna Dar (right), Shuhari Tuition is a tuition agency with a difference. Drawing on the concept of shu-ha-ri (守破離) from Japanese martial arts, we believe that the journey to mastery involves three stages:

  1. Learning the basics.

  2. Developing your own approach.

  3. Applying knowledge independently.

    Learn the basics

    Learning the basics involves implementing a range of teaching methods such as scaffolding, modelling, and guided practice. We make an effort to incorporate the methods that are best suited to our students’ learning style, helping them build a solid foundation of knowledge and ensuring they feel supported as they develop key skills.

    Developing your own approach

    We encourage our students to develop their own approach by inviting them to experiment with different learning techniques. For example, this could be in the form of mind mapping, spaced repetition, or using real-world applications. We strive to help our students identify their strengths so they can tailor their revision strategies accordingly.

    Applying knowledge independently

    We push our students to apply their knowledge independently by tackling problems on their own. This helps them build confidence and develop resilience, critical thinking skills, and a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

At Shuhari Tuition, we reject the one-size-fits-all approach to learning which is adopted in schools. While the school system is designed for surface-level comprehension, with rote learning and standardised testing at its core, we understand how this can alienate students who work best using alternative methods. That’s why our agency empowers students to take ownership of their academic journey and learn in a way that works for them. Students begin with an assessment to determine their learning style, allowing us to plan lessons that play to their individual strengths. In doing so, we help foster a genuine love for learning while nurturing confident, independent thinkers. 

Shuhari Tuition was founded by a tutor with over seven years of tutoring experience, so we understand the struggles students face—whether it’s low confidence, lack of motivation, exam anxiety, poor study habits, or special educational needs. Our qualified tutors are able to accommodate a variety of needs, in particular students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and autism. We recognise that every student’s learning journey is unique, which is why our mission is to create personalised lesson plans that adapt to the flexible needs of our students. As a result, we create a positive and enriching learning environment where every kind of student can thrive.
