As a tutor, my goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel confident, motivated, and genuinely interested in the subject matter. I take a student-centred approach to tutoring this means I tailor each session to the individual’s unique needs, learning style, and pace. Whether a student thrives with visual aids, step-by-step breakdowns, interactive discussions, or real-world applications, I adapt my methods to suit them. I believe in creating a space where questions are welcomed, mistakes are part of learning, and progress no matter how small is celebrated.

What I enjoy most about teaching is witnessing that moment when a student grasps a concept that once seemed out of reach. There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping someone discover their own capabilities and build confidence through understanding. I tutor with enthusiasm and genuine interest in my subjects, which I’ve found helps students stay engaged and curious. I also emphasise the “why” behind what we’re learning, as this often helps students make deeper connections and retain information more effectively.

My strengths as a tutor include patience, empathy, and creativity. I understand that not every student learns in the same way or at the same speed, and that’s okay. I’m patient in guiding students through difficult topics and encouraging when they face setbacks. I also try to make learning fun and relatable using analogies, humor, or storytelling when appropriate. Building rapport with students is essential to me; I strive to create a relationship based on trust, respect, and encouragement so they feel safe and supported.

I have experience working with a diverse range of learners, including students with special educational needs (SEN) such as ADHD, dyslexia, and autism spectrum conditions. I’ve learned to be flexible and attentive, using strategies that reduce stress and increase accessibility such as chunking information, using multisensory techniques, or incorporating movement into learning for those who benefit from it. Ultimately, I aim to help each student feel seen, heard, and capable of success, no matter their starting point.
