English
Ella Mudhar
As an English tutor, I centre my teaching on creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to explore language, express their ideas and develop confidence in their abilities. I approach each tutoring session with patience and genuine enthusiasm, recognising that learning is a collaborative journey between both the tutor and student. My teaching style is adaptable to students' needs. I take time to understand each learner's individual needs, interests, and learning preferences. Some students thrive with visual aids and mind maps, while others prefer hands-on activities or discussions.
When I first meet my students, I will ask questions and create activities in order to gauge their current ability. By taking a note on their skills and targets, I will make a clear plan on how a student can improve their skills and become a strong student. After each lesson, I will make a note on all types of progress the student has made, big or small, even if it is not directly related to the subject itself, for example, their confidence in lessons, or willingness to ask questions, as all progress should be encouraged and recognised.
What I find most rewarding about teaching English is witnessing those breakthrough moments when a concept suddenly clicks, or when a student discovers they actually enjoy writing. Whether we're analysing poetry or crafting essays, I strive to make each lesson engaging and relevant to my students' lives. Also, if a student is not improving from my lesson structure, I will always amend it to their needs.
Additionally, in my experience working with diverse learners, including students with special educational needs, I appreciate that building confidence beyond the classroom will help all students succeed. Above all, I'm committed to helping each student develop not just their English skills, but also their love of learning. My goal is to be a tutor who makes a lasting positive impact, as someone who helps students believe in themselves and their potential.
